COVID-19 IMPACT

 

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, R.A.I.N. has continued to serve as a lifeline and a critical resource for older adults and those most vulnerable.  The health and well-being of our clients, their caregivers and our employees has been our top priority. 

R.A.I.N. Programs have conducted approximately 167,000 Wellness and Telephone Reassurance Calls to our older adults to check in on their well-being, offer support and connect them to needed services/assistance.   

In addition to the wellness calls, we launched Virtual Programming as a way of facilitating older adult engagement and continued connection with their peers.  We purchased over 300 tablets and initiated a Tablet Loan Program to support older adults in their ability to participate in virtual activities. Presently, R.A.I.N. is offering 80 weekly Virtual Activities for older adults across all our Programs 

The Home Delivered Meals Program has continued to deliver meals to homebound older adults consistently throughout the pandemic.  Since March, 425,000 Meals have been delivered to home-bound older adults. 

The Transportation Program has provided 4,200 Transportation Trips to and from medical appointments enabling older adults to access needed medical services.

Through generous donations, the Cucina Dolores Mobile Food Kitchen was able to expand increase its impact in addressing food insecurity.  Over 84,000 meals have been distributed within low-income Bronx communities.

The Case Management Program remained in contact and offered support to an average caseload of 1120 older adults while also intaking new clients and connecting them to in-home services. 

The One Stop Program continued to offer telephone reassurance and case assistance ensure continuation of benefits and supportive services. 

Our Alzheimer’s Caregiver Link Program provided support to 300 caregivers through educational classes, joint enrichment activities and referrals.

Home Care continues to operate under emergency protocols as home health aides and families served have been greatly impacted.
